Excellent Ideas Exchange 2019
IN the past month we successfully ran our Ideas Exchange con- ference in Sydney.
This meeting enables researchers and indus- try to get together for a great time of net- working, reconnecting, learning and developing ideas.
The conference was well attended with close to 90 participants from across the industry and research sectors.
The main session of the conference includ- ed industry insights, a panel discussion focus- ing on the poultry in-
dustry’s capacity to go carbon neutral, research snapshots and conclud- ing with a Brains Trust session.
The industry insights
session included presen- tations highlighting the industry’s achievements in genetics over the past 40 years and how sus- tainable the industry is.
Following this were two presentations de- tailing the challenges of vaccine production, delivery, supply and ef- ficacy, highlighting the many challenges we face in this area while providing some sugges- tions on how we could enhance Australian vac- cine production.
The panel discussion had representatives from a number of indus- try sectors and fantastic engagement from the audience.
Not only did the au- dience think we could attain carbon neutrality, but they felt we could go carbon negative!
The main point that arose from this hearty discussion was we are already undertaking a range of positive activi- ties in this space, but we are failing to get the information out there.
With the challenge of fake meat on our door- step, we really need to get these positive achievements out there so we can highlight how sustainable our industry is.
