Vin Rowe supplies walking tractors for chicken farmers
WALKING trac- tors (also called two- wheel tractors) are used all over the world for small-scale agri- culture, horticulture, landscaping and home use.
Unlike lighter-duty cultivators available from hardware stores, two-wheel tractors such as those from Pasquali and BCS are built to very high standards of quality and durability.
Like a four-wheel farm tractor, these rug- ged machines are de- signed to run many attachments and give thousands of hours of service.
Vin Rowe Farm Ma- chinery in Warragul (100km from Mel- bourne) has been the Australian importer/ distributor for Pasquali and BCS two-wheel
tractors since 2011.
The company imports and stocks a large range of petrol and diesel- powered two-wheel tractors from 4.8 to 11.7hp in electric and
diesel start.
The traditional work-
horse implement for two-wheel tractors is the rotary hoe, which is used for primary and secondary tillage.
This implement comes as standard with the BCS and Pasquali range.
What makes two- wheel tractors more versatile is the large range of powered and non-powered imple- ments that can be used on the machine.
Vin Rowe Farm Ma- chinery is also an im- porter of the following implements suited to two-wheel tractors:
sickle bar mowers;
• Berta rotary ploughs (single and revers- ible), slashers and flail
mulchers;
•R2 Rinaldi power
harrows;
• Gramegna spaders;
and
• Aldo Biagioli
ploughs, potato lifters, bed shapers and culti- vators.
Implements can be in- terchanged easily.
As a result, there is hardly a small-scale farming application that a BCS/Pasquali two- wheel tractor cannot perform.
BCS is by far the larg- est manufacturer of two-wheel tractors in Europe.
The Pasquali and BCS brands were both founded in northern Italy in the 1940s.
In the 1990s, BCS ac- quired Pasquali.
Due to the long his- tory of both brands, BCS continues to mar- ket both BCS (blue) and Pasquali (yellow) machines around the world.
Aside from their col- our, the machines are the same.

PIX/AMC provided networking and information sharing among poultry professionals in Australia and beyond
AVIAGEN participated as a major sponsor of the Poultry Information Exchange and Australa- sian Milling Conference in early June.
This year’s show theme was ‘Supply Chain Op- portunities – Farmers to Consumers’, and Aviagen demonstrated its critical role in providing qual- ity, high-performance broiler breeding stock to the global poultry supply chain.
Aviagen’s Ross brand is popular throughout Aus- tralia for high meat yield, feed efficiency and strong liveability.
Sharing latest manage- ment advice
Visitors were greeted by members of Aviagen’s Australia and New Zea- land team, and Aviagen ventilation specialist Ber- nard Green and incuba- tion specialist Eddy Van Lierde led a number of
informative workshops. The workshops focused on topics essential to bird health, welfare and per- formance, offering impor- tant environmental and
management advice.
Ross Clubs reward top performance
Aviagen also took the opportunity at the show to welcome new members to the prestigious Ross Clubs.
Membership is awarded to poultry producers who, through skilful husband- ry and dedication, have achieved the highest per- formance with their Ross
broiler breeders. Acceptance is based on
the performance index factor score of poultry flocks.
The PIF is equivalent to the European production efficiency factor.
The Ross 400 Club, which requires PIF scores of 400 or greater, wel- comed a dozen farms from Australian-based broiler growing company ProTen, which achieved a PIF as high as 456.
Aviagen ANZ managing director Michael Leahy said, “We would like to offer our congratulations to ProTen for an impressive accomplishment, achieved only through paying close attention to detail in areas such as biosecurity, nutri- tion and environmental management.”
“Continuous improve- ments in our balanced breeding program boost the genetic potential of
our birds, helping custom- ers achieve these perform- ance heights.”
Leahy went on to an- nounce that, due to the high performance seen throughout the region, a Ross 450 Club has been initiated in Australia and a Ross 500 Club in New Zealand (requiring PIF results of at least 450 and 500, respectively).
Aviagen’s Technical Service manager for Aus- tralia and New Zealand Debbie Fisher said, “PIX is always a great opportu- nity to meet our custom- ers at this major industry event, where our wider Aviagen team sits down with customers and chats about what they need and how we can deliver it.”
“We are committed to sharing our knowledge, supporting our customers and continuing to build solid relationships with them all.”
