ACCORDING to the Australian Productiv- ity Commission, farmers need to double their pro- ductivity every generation to remain profitable.
farmers achieve productiv- ity improvements through optimisation of feed con- version, lower mortal- ity rates and higher body weights.

MimicTec helps poultry
The only infrastructure required is a single 240v GPO.
The five trials at the facil- ity have all shown an ad- vantage to PeckTec, as per the summary of that data.
Both growers and con- sultants have commented on the benefits of the sys- tem in all categories.
Even with Australia’s competitive advantage in agriculture, this is a sig- nificant challenge.
MimicTec has developed the PeckTec system, which simply attaches to existing poultry shed drinker and feeder lines.
Its cycles are managed by a control box in the control room.
Any broken component can easily be replaced without disrupting the sys- tem.
LEDs, T-piece and buzzers positioned on or near drinkers and feeders are activated at programmed intervals by a control box in the control room.
Trials at a major proces- sor’s research facility has shown improvements in:
• Mediralis Pty Ltd, Aus- tralia.
As the lights are 24v and the buzzers are 12v, instal- lation does not require an electrician.
Trial consultant Dr El- ham Assadi Soumeh is a lecturer in animal science and production at the Uni- versity of Queensland.
Payback for the system depends on shed size and feed prices, though will generally be between 1.5-3 years.
Four people can install the system in a 180m shed in three days.
The larger the shed, the shorter the payback.
The system is now ‘click and connect’, so growers will be capable of install- ing the system themselves.
Dr Soumeh’s other con- sultancies are:
A distributor has been appointed in Italy and our first trials commence there in April 2021.
For those too busy to do so, MimicTec has an installation manager who organises installers and su- pervises their work.
• Ajinomoto Animal Nu- trition Europe, France
• Bioproton Pty Ltd, Aus- tralia
MimicTec is proud to be part of the poultry indus- try, and looks forward to contributing to its profit- ability and animal welfare improvements.
• GLG Consulting Group, global
The system comprises of LEDs and buzzers posi- tioned on or near drink- ers and feeders, which are activated at programmed intervals by a control box
